A great way to challenge your bird and sharpen
his intellect - while offering a nutritious snack
- is to get a treat toy for your bird's cage. Even
birds that do not seem interested in toys alone
can't resist cracking open a nut or trying to get
at some juicy fruit on a skewer. Our treat
toys are sometimes referred to as “eat and
replace” toys.
Think of each of these treats as three toys wrapped
up into one. Each one contains treats, minerals,
and a hard wood core. As each “layer” is
consumed, there is another piece for the bird to
chew.
Thesetreats are set in Manu
- an exact copy of minerals found in the banks
of the Manu River in Peru, South America. Manu
provides calcium and a variety of minerals – which
help filter toxins from the bird’s system
and fill in nutrition gaps. Think of it as
a “one a day” for your bird. Eventually
the treats and Manu are consumed to reveal a natural
Cholla Cactus Wood core. Cholla, the skeleton
of the Cholla Cactus, is a natural soft wood that
makes a terrific soft chew for all birds.
Millet Log
Seeds for most birds
are like candy for children. One particular seed,
millet (a type of grass), is lower in fat and in
fact, one of the most nutritious grains you can
give to your bird. Millet contains high levels
of proteins (with one of the highest amino acid
profiles of all the cereal grains) , carbohydrates,
B-complex vitamins, calcium, phosphorus and magnesium
in addition to a host of other important nutrients. Because
of the high concentration of B-vitamins, it is
also a natural stress-reliever for your bird.
Nutty Log
Keep your bird entertained
and occupied by giving him a treat he has to earn! Learning
how to crack open peanut shells provides excellent
mental stimulation for larger birds. Once
opened, the peanut meat provides essential
fatty acids for healthy skin and feathers.
